We don’t have many in the desert but, it’s the best French Bakery in the desert. Bam! That sticky bun is worth getting a few dozen but you’ll also be out a whole paycheck. Keep in mind they aren’t open much, I think they’re close M-W, but it is a bit pricey but well worth it. I wouldn’t go here for a coffee even though they have an espresso machine. Just go for the pastries, a loaf of bread, and maybe a slice of cake for dessert.
The owners are the loveliest people and always greet everyone with a smile. Their pastries are out of this world delicious! Every time we visit Palm Springs, we make sure to stop here--at least a few times! Our favorites are: The Pain au chocolat, blueberry cream cheese danish, raspberry cream cheese danish, pear chocolate custard danish, and Gruyere Baguette. Everything looks and smells amazing, and next time we look forward to trying the salted caramel cheesecake.
Get here early because the line can get long. However, the wait is worth it. I travel a lot and this place is one of the best I’ve had. I recommend the Butterscotch Pecan Twist! Authentic ingredients and very well made.
Randomly passed by the cafe to grab some gifts for family on the way home back to LA. We seemed to arrive too late because most of the counters were empty! Thankfully, we were able to grab bread pudding, a pain au chocolat, and a pear custard tart. The lovely Swiss gentleman handling our order was the sweetest. He let me speak to him in broken French, and he was just a delight to converse with. He made our first experience at Penninsula memorable! The pastries were all soooo delightful! When my relatives tried the bread pudding, their eyes widened! I wish I had known about this place sooner, as I would have come every morning during my mini vacation!
Such a great place to get delicious pastries. Per the wonderful lady working the counter, the pastries are made in the French way-with french butter and generally lighter than American pastries. I found all the flavors to be phenomenal, not too sweet, and great light textures. The raspberry cheesecake was my fave ❤️. Def go and get a COUPLE of things to share....or not.
Spectacular French pastries and bread! The sticky bun is out of the world delicious! We live is San Diego and when we travel to Palm Springs this bakery is always our very first stop. Exceptional!!

We are visiting from out of state but have been in Palm Springs before. My partner was ready for second breakfast so I googled and found this spot. I had a kouign-amann and a tea but I can’t remember the name of what my partner had (he said it in French but I tried a bite and it was good). I had read the reviews (even the negatives) and I can see how the owner could be perceived as being rude but being a busy shop, I think that she’s just trying to keep the line moving because she was just fine with us. I’m kind of glad that I don’t live here because I would make this place a daily stop!
I absolutely love this French pastry shop. I go at least once or twice every time I am in town. The owner, Helene, is so charming and personable. She gives me a chance to practice my French while ordering the best pastries in Palm Springs. If you can, bring cash. It is so much better for them but if not then buy more just to compensate. :) On a personal note Helene, I absolutely love your responses to the one star review Karens of this world and am embarrassed by the things they said to you. Americans can be horrible and maybe even more so these days. Please keep doing what you do and do not pay them any attention. Merci pour votre passion et votre savoir-faire. À très bientôt.
The woman behind the counter greeted me warmly when I arrived and took my order right away. I ordered an Americano with two shots and an orange blossom custard bun. The coffee was so good! I was less enthusiastic about the pastry - it was tasty but just not what I was in the mood for. I should have gotten a croissant or tart instead.
